Joe Keery, who many recognize from Stranger Things, began playing music in his teens after borrowing his sister’s guitar, but it was during his time at DePaul University in Chicago that he formed his first band and seriously pursued music. That band, Post Animal, became known for their heavy psych rock sound, releasing a self-titled EP and two albums via Polyvinyl while touring with acts like Twin Peaks, Wavves, and Cage The Elephant and appearing at U.S. festivals. In 2019, Keery quietly unveiled his solo project Djo with a lush, self-reflective 12-track debut album titled Twenty Twenty. Released independently and without fanfare, the album resonated deeply with listeners, earning praise from outlets like Rodeo Mag and surpassing 200 million streams.
